All dogs are up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before adoption. Guardianship Application, home visit and reference checks are required. Minimum adoption fee is $150.

We can't believe that this sweet and spirited little 40 lb APBT mix is still in need of a home. Venus has so much personality and is downright adorable! She's currently living at a daycare/kennel in Chicago and spends the majority of her days sunbathing with her boyfriend Superman. They love to play together. Venus is the more toy-oriented of the two, she'll go for a few rounds of fetch before settling down to chew on the tennis ball. She's not crazy about small critters (including cats) but she has proven herself to be good with male dogs. She's good on a leash and loves leisurely strolls through the park. Her general temperament is mellow, with the occasional bursts of spunkiness. She's been learning commands such as 'sit', 'drop it', and 'wait, and her favorite treats so far are carrots and bananas. Venus was recently introduced to a fluffy dog bed... sunk down it and looked up as if to say "Oh man, what is this!". The pillow had to be lifted to get her up. She definitely misses the comforts of being in a home. Venus has been homeless longer than most of the dogs listed. We think this has to do with her black coloring...it's a sad fact of rescue that black dogs take longer to be adopted than other colors, especially when the dog is a Pit Bull mix. But Venus is one sweet, personable girl who you don't want to overlook. Please give her a chance!
