Maple is a 40-lb. spayed female Pit Bull/French Bulldog mix. She has the perfect trifecta, which means that she is good with people (LOVES KIDS!), dogs (submissive males, some females, but will not be placed in a home w/other females), and cats. Maple is pure sweetness and loves to snuggle and sleep with you at night. She has a good energy level and loves to play fetch, which quickly turns into keep-away, her favorite game. She will run after the toy you throw for her, then want you to run after HER so she can keep the toy away from you! :) She also enjoys walks and jogs, and being able to walk, run, and relax in the yard.

Maple is good with my three male dogs, all of whom are larger than her and (I would consider) submissive/relaxed. She is also fine with my cat, mostly ignoring her. Maple is especially great with children. She isn't fazed by my preschool son's energy or activity, when he jumps on his mini-trampoline, makes noise, runs around the house, etc. She isn't even fazed when he has friends over and there are multiple young children in the house. :)

Maple is impeccably housetrained and has never had an accident in all the months I've been her foster mom. She is crate-trained and will sleep in her crate without upset, if this is your preference. She is trustworthy alone in the house and has never chewed or destroyed anything inside my home while I've been away.

Maple is eager to please and is a fast learner, She knows how to sit on command, knows shake, speak, up (up on two legs), and come commands, takes treats gently while sitting, and goes into her crate when told. She is also good about not running/bolting for the door when I open it, like I know some dogs do. She will wait until you put her leash on and tell her it's time to go. If she does something that you don't like, such as jumping up on the bed (for example), all you have to tell her is: "Maple, no!", and she will stop the behavior (in this case, by getting off of the bed).

Maple barks when people come to the door, but not excessively, just the good kind of barking that lets people know you have a dog. She has been friendly with all visitors to our home, including 'strangers,' such as the mail carrier and UPS worker. Maple is a good traveler and rides well in the car. She is not anxious about new situations, but rather, is friendly, trusting, and eager to see what new things life has to offer!

I'm surprised someone hasn't already scooped up this great dog, to tell you the truth. Maple is a sweet girl who deserves a loving, forever family. She is loyal and affectionate and I know she will bring joy to her forever family, as she has brought joy to us.

Maple's sad background:

Maple was rescued from appalling conditions from a backyard in Indiana. She was tied outside using a child's jump rope and was living in a mud puddle. She had no shelter and was totally exposed to the elements, day and night. Maple was covered head to toe with fleas, which caused fur loss, horrible itching, and raw skin/scabs. She was overbred, likely having had at least three litters by the time she was two years old. Maple also had a huge hematoma in her ear that was ready to burst. She was fully vetted, spayed, and had surgery to mend her hematoma. She's so sweet and loving with humans that you would never guess anyone had treated her poorly in the past.
